  • Structure of IBM SPSS Modeler®

  • Typical data mining questions

  • Introduction to the CRISP-DM process standard

  • Data import

  • Access to structured, ODBC-enabled data sources

  • Importing text files

  • Importing proprietary data formats (IBM SPSS Statistics®, SAS®)

  • Processing options

  • Options for selecting, structuring and composing data sets (joining, appending, sorting, balancing)

  • Data validation, data exploration and automatic data quality testing

Day 2

  • Derivation, recalculation of variables or replacement of variables

  • Recoding, classifying and dichotomizing

  • Visualization (diagrams), modeling and evaluation

  • Modeling: Overview of available methods and information on application areas

  • Case study: Customer classification using different classification methods

  • Model evaluation (gain charts) and comparison of different models (error classification, hit rates)

  • Saving and exporting classification and scoring results

  • Reuse of analyses in subsequent projects

CONTENTS

This course is aimed at anyone who wants to get started with data mining using IBM SPSS Modeler® or who wants to refresh their knowledge.

IBM SPSS Modeler® supports the entire data mining process – from data access and data preparation to the creation of various models and modeling.

The individual steps are discussed in a practical manner and practiced based on real-life problems. Self-study or participation in advanced seminars is perfectly possible after this basic course.
