CONTENTS
The core objective of this R seminar is to lay the foundation for working with R. Even the basic R installation and the packages installed with it offer a wide range of options for data processing and statistical analysis. A very large number of add-on packages are also available.
Seminar structure : The seminar is divided into two parts : On the first day you will learn the basics, import and export of data as well as the implementation of typical statistical analyses and statistical tests.
The second day deals with automation, with the focus on functions.
The first part of the seminar is intended to provide participants with an initial orientation in the R universe and also to demonstrate the possibilities of the help system and the extensive documentation.
After the initial overview, we'll move on to the typical data analysis process: We'll learn how to import and export data in R. We'll also discuss the data types available in R.
It then involves processing the data: creating sub-data sets (filters), selecting variables and transforming variables.
Basic statistical analyses then cover overview statistics (summary and st functions), basic parameters (min, mean, median, sd) and functions from additional packages (psych and Hmisc packages).
R offers a wealth of statistical tests that can be used relatively easily. The t-test and the chi-square test will be discussed. Other tests and relevant packages can also be covered upon participant request.
The second part begins with conditions and loops – these represent one of the necessary foundations for creating your own functions in R. We'll practice these together and write our own functions . These functions can then be used alongside anonymous functions in the so-called apply family in R.
The seminar concludes with a detailed discussion of the graphics system (graphics have, of course, already been created up to this point, but we'll delve deeper into them later). Graphic creation and manipulation will be introduced and practiced together. The lattice and ggplot2 packages will also be introduced, and initial graphics will be created using these packages.
Implementation is always practical, preferably based on a case study (discussed prior to the seminar) in R and the RStudio IDE. If you book a corporate seminar , you can use any IDE or work directly in R.
If you book a corporate seminar, we'll be happy to tailor the content to your needs and even provide training based on your data. Just contact us!
